TIP - Cisco 3rt Party GBIC 사용 방법

되도록이면 고객들에게는 Cisco정품 제품을 사용하기를 권장을 한다, 나중에 문제가 발생해서 Cisco TAC Case Open을 진행해보면, GBIC 같은 경우는 Cisco정품으로 교체하라는 요청을 항상 받게 된다.

그래도, 가격적인 측면을 많이 따지는 고객사인 경우, 3rd Party GBIC을 많이 선호를 한다, 대부분 잘 작동하기도 하고.

 

다들 아시겠지만, 아래 명령어를 이용하면, 3rd Party GBIC을 인식시킬 수 있다

Warning: When Cisco determines that a fault or defect can be traced to

the use of third-party transceivers installed by a customer or reseller,

then, at Cisco's discretion, Cisco may withhold support under warranty or

a Cisco support program. In the course of providing support for a Cisco

networking product Cisco may require that the end user install Cisco

transceivers if Cisco determines that removing third-party parts will

assist Cisco in diagnosing the cause of a support issue.

근래 들어 시스코에서 스위치 쪽 장비 Line-Up이 9000 시리즈(9200, 9400, 9500)로 변경이 되었는데, "service unsupported-transceiver" 명령어를 입력하게 되면, 해당 명령어가 인식이 안되는 것처럼 메시지가 나와 당황스러웠던 적이 있었다.

이리저리 구글링을 해봤을 때, IOS Bug로 확인이 되며, IOS 16.12 이후 버전에서 Fix 된 걸로 보이니, 이미지를 해당 버전 이상으로 Upgrade 하면 된다.
